CAS is proud to have revised standards that reflect the important contributions of Dining Services Programs.
The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education is pleased to announce the release of the revised standards for Dining Services Programs (DSP). CAS, composed of 42 collaborating professional associations representing over 115,000 professionals in higher education, has developed standards and guidelines for 45 functional areas, and rooted them in the scholarship and work conducted within their respective fields. The new standards delineate expectations for educators in the related functional areas and complement the ninth edition of the CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education. The most significant changes to the DSP standards include:
- - Enhanced focus on the core services that a successful dining program should provide, including nutritional offerings, food service options, meal plan design, and collaborations with campus entities.
- - Guidance on target outcomes for dining programs, including financial stability, health and safety compliance, customer satisfaction, sustainability, cultural awareness, sense of community, and student learning and development.
- - Considerations for campuses working with both in-house and outsourced dining services.
CAS is proud to have revised standards that reflect the important contributions of Dining Services Programs to helping students learn and develop during their college experiences.
