Honoring Ralph Johnson: A Legacy of Leadership and Excellence at CAS

12/20/2024

As we conclude our series honoring past presidents of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS), we shine a spotlight on Dr. Ralph Johnson, CAS’s 10th President and Immediate Past President.
Dr. Johnson has dedicated years of service to CAS, leaving an indelible mark through his leadership, vision, and commitment to advancing standards in higher education. Serving as CAS’s first African American President from 2021 to 2023, Ralph has been a trailblazer, shaping the organization’s future while honoring its legacy.

Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Johnson shared, “Being on the CAS board has allowed me to help shape the standards of operation to indicate a quality program for the 44 functional areas for which we have a set of standards.” His contributions, particularly in creating a collaborative environment for higher education practitioners, have inspired colleagues and enhanced the profession as a whole.

Under Ralph’s leadership, CAS continued its mission to foster student learning, development, and achievement. His work with the Washington Adventist University as Vice President for the Center for Student Life further exemplifies his dedication to student success and institutional excellence.

As Ralph concludes his service with CAS, we invite you to watch his interview, where he reflects on his journey, achievements, and hopes for the future of higher education.
Join us in celebrating Ralph Johnson’s remarkable legacy and his countless contributions to CAS and the broader field of student affairs.
