Introducing the CAS Member Organization Spotlight Series

1/16/2025

For over 40 years, the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) has played a pivotal role in shaping best practices within student affairs, academic support, and other higher education functional areas. Currently representing 40 collaborating professional associations and over 115,000 professionals, CAS provides a unified voice and framework for the development, assessment, and improvement of student learning, programs, and services.

In 2025, CAS is excited to launch a new series highlighting each of our member organizations. Each month, we will feature a different member organization, hearing from its two appointed representatives who contribute to CAS’s mission of fostering excellence in higher education. This initiative will provide an opportunity to explore the diverse perspectives, contributions, and impact of each association within the CAS consortium.

Why This Series Matters
The CAS consortium is unique in its ability to bring together organizations that specialize in a variety of student support services, from housing and health to academic advising and career development. Through this series, we aim to:
  • Showcase the expertise and leadership of each member organization.
  • Highlight how CAS standards inform and enhance the work of different functional areas.
  • Celebrate the collaboration that strengthens our collective mission to empower higher education professionals in their service to students.

A Legacy of Collaboration and Excellence
Since its founding, CAS has been dedicated to establishing and disseminating professional standards that guide student learning and institutional effectiveness. Today, with over 50 sets of functional area standards and three cross-functional frameworks, CAS continues to serve as a leader in promoting quality assurance across higher education.

The strength of CAS lies in its members—the associations that share a commitment to high standards, continuous improvement, and student success. Whether a founding member like NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) and ACPA (College Student Educators International) or more recent additions such as the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU), each organization brings valuable insights and expertise to the table.

Join Us in Celebrating Our Members
We invite you to follow along as we recognize the outstanding contributions of each CAS member organization throughout the year. Stay tuned for the first spotlight in our series, coming in February.

Together, we uphold the values of collaboration, integrity, and innovation that define CAS and its partners. We look forward to sharing these stories with you and celebrating the incredible work being done across higher education!
