What is CAS Membership?

The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) is powered by a consortium of professional associations, each of which appoints representatives to the CAS Council. These representatives collaborate to create, review, and update the CAS Standards that guide higher education professionals across the field.

What Do CAS Members Do?
Representatives from each member association:

• Help develop and maintain timely, relevant professional standards
• Ensure the CAS mission reflects the evolving needs of students and institutions
• Collaborate across functional areas to support best practices in student learning, development, and assessment

Together, CAS members build a profession-wide perspective on quality, integrity, and accountability in higher education.

A Forum for Collaboration
One of CAS’s most unique strengths is its structure. Rather than operating in isolation, member associations work collectively to:

• Establish unified standards across student affairs and higher education practice
• Promote the assessment and improvement of services through self-study and evaluation
• Develop resources to support practitioners, faculty, and graduate students

• NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education
• ACPA: College Student Educators International
• NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising
• AHEAD: Association on Higher Education and Disability
• NACE: National Association of Colleges and Employers
• NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation
