The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS), a consortium of professional associations in higher education, promotes the use of its professional standards for the development, assessment, and improvement of quality student learning, programs, and services.

CAS maintains 48 sets of professional standards and corresponding Self-Assessment Guides (SAGs). CAS released its newest publication, CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education (10th Ed.) in May 2019. Also revised in 2019 are the Self-Assessment Guides, available as a downloadable electronic file for each of the 48 functional areas, and as a packaged set together with a PowerPoint for presentations on conducting self-assessment.
