CAS is deeply saddened by the recent passing of CAS Advisory Board member, Adam Peck, Ph.D. Dr. Adam Peck served on the CAS Advisory Board from 2019-2021. He earned his bachelor's degree in Theatre from Lewis University, a master's degree in Communication Studies from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Adam Peck served as Assistant Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs at Stephen F. Austin University for nearly 12 years and had recently started a new position as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Illinois State University. He was an educator for more than 25 years and has an extensive body of work. He wrote and edited several books, wrote over 50 scholarly publications, edited several journals, and presented more than 100 national and international webinars. He served on many national and state boards, and was a frequent keynote speaker at conferences on campuses around the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Peck was involved in a number of professional associations. He was a former president of the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators and the former Texas State Director for NASPA. He served as editor of the Scholarship to Practice section of the Journal of Campus Activities Practice and Scholarship. He was named one of the “Champions of Assessment” by Campus Labs and received the “Founders Award” from NACA for contributions to the field of student activities. Throughout his many years in higher education, Dr. Peck inspired thousands of students and impacted those around him. He will be missed and remembered fondly. The CAS community mourns the loss of a colleague and friend and extends condolences to Dr. Peck's friends and family.
