CAS will be presenting various sessions at the 2023 NASPA conference.
Representatives from CAS will present the following sessions at the NASPA Annual Conference April 1-5, in Boston, Massachusetts:

  • Implementing Division Wide Program Review Using CAS Standards (4/3/2023, 8:30-9:20 am)
Presented by Dan Bureau (CAS Governing Board and Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing, Louisiana State University), and Scott Radimer (Director of Assessment and Planning, University of Houston)

The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) has provided standards to guide effective practice in student services for four decades. The presenters will explain the University of Houston's program review model, in place for almost a decade. The comprehensive model helps divisional leaders assess programs and services and develop plans for continuous improvement.

  • The Multiple Ways of Using CAS Standards to Build a Robust Assessment Process for Student Learning, Development and Success (4/4/2023, 08:30-09:20 AM)
Presented by Melissa Brown (Director of Assessment and Strategic Initiatives, University of Tennessee Knoxville), Dan Bureau (CAS Governing Board and Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing, Louisiana State University), and Ralph Johnson (CAS President and Vice President for Student Life, Washington Adventist University)

This session focuses on the many ways that CAS can be used to improve the delivery of student learning and development.

  • The Many Uses of CAS Standards to Create, Implement, and Assess Programs and Services (4/4/2023, 11:05-11:55 AM)
Presented by Léna Crain (CAS Editor and Associate Dean of Students, Bucknell University), Dan Bureau (CAS Governing Board and Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing, Louisiana State University), Scott Radimer (Director of Assessment and Planning, University of Houston)

Applying tested frameworks is vital to ensure efficiency and efficacy with resources. Standards can be used to develop, implement, and assess programs and services that facilitate student learning, development, and success, and to support accreditation. In this session, participants will explore several ways to use CAS Standards and cross-functional frameworks to enhance program and service delivery. Participants will develop a plan for using CAS Standards in ways that make sense for their diverse functional areas and institutional types.
