The CAS Governing Board met face-to-face in September for the first time since 2019. Last month, the CAS Governing Board assembled in Indianapolis, Indiana for the organization’s first in-person Governing Board meeting since before the COVID-19 pandemic. This meeting was also the first Governing Board meeting to be led by CAS President Gayle Spencer, whose two-year term began September 1st, 2023. As the first face-to-face meeting of the Governing Board since 2019, board members were excited to discuss vision and plans for the organization in a more intimate setting. In 2020, CAS successfully pivoted to fully virtual meetings to prioritize health and safety and has incrementally returned to in-person events along with the rest of the higher education community. Doreen Murner, CAS’s Executive Director since 2019, shared, “While our flexible and adaptive Governing Board has certainly maximized on strategic communication and productive collaboration from afar, an in-person meeting gave the Board a much needed boost of familiarity, focus, and fun.” It was an exciting and productive meeting for the board to get together face-to-face. The entire council will meet together in-person in November in Alexandria, VA.
