CAS President, Ralph Johnson, PhD, shares updates about the organization for the month of May. Dear Colleagues:
Suffice it to say that this has been a very busy spring semester for CAS. In addition to releasing the 11th version of our “book of standards,” CAS exhibited at two major student affairs conferences and soon, we will unveil a new website! Just imagine the inordinate amount of time that the CAS leadership and the entire Council had to invest in order to complete two major deliverables within the same window of time. Please join me in expressing gratitude to the Council for its dedication and commitment to these major projects. In addition to completing these two major projects, the CAS Council maintained its customary activities such as the development, review and approval of myriad standards as part of its routine cycle for updating existing standards. During the April 17, 2023 CAS Council meeting, we had elections for officers which resulted in Carol Miller Schaefer being elected to another term as Member-at-Large for Administration and Christine Self being elected to her own term as Member-at-Large for the User Experience. Christine had previously been appointed to complete the unexpired term of the same position when it became available last fall. We are so fortunate to have these two consummate professionals continue on the CAS Governing Board when their new three-year terms begin on September 1. As the CAS leadership team prepares to close this current fiscal year in August, we can say with confidence that we have truly pivoted this year and that we anticipate a renewed energy in the field as our 11th version and the new website are experienced. We re-commit ourselves to the vision and mission of CAS and vow to work assiduously to create and promulgate the standards and other resources you need for intentional, systematic and robust program reviews and assessment activities. It is our delight to offer exemplary service to you. Sincerely, Ralph Johnson, Ph.D. President Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education
